John Smoltz has given his blessing for Tim Hudson to be the Opening Day starter for the Atlanta Braves.
“Huddy is Opening Day starter for the future here,” Smoltz said. “As long as Huddy’s here, he’s going to start Opening Day. Huddy’s the guy.”
Memo to Barry Bonds and Alfonso Soriano: This is what it means to be a team player.
Thanks to David B. for the alert.

My goodness is my son a depraved little heathen. Last night we were at Wal-Mart, and one of the greeters tried to talk to him. Daniel jerked his head in the other direction and wouldn’t even look at the man — even after orders from me to be nice. The man even gave him a sticker, and it was like pulling teeth to get Daniel to tell him “thank you.”
Needless to say, he got disciplined when we got back to the car.
Those who think that man is basically good must not be parents — because as a father it’s sure easy to see my son’s depravity. He’s just like his dad. I pray that God’s grace will in due time intervene in his life the way it has in mine.

I thought tonight’s episode was one of the most intense of the season so far. Who was Henderson talking to on the phone when he said CTU didn’t have enough info to pin anything on them?
Don’t forget that next week’s show starts an hour earlier and lasts two hours.

Power Line references an editorial by Investors Business Daily with some pretty solid evidence that Saddam Hussein did in fact have weapons of mass destruction.

If Ergun Caner can be the “Intellectual Pit Bull of the evangelical world,” can I be the “Intellectual Golden Retriever of the evangelical world”? Or maybe the “Blogging German Shepherd of the evangelical world”?
Just a thought.

Going almost a century without winning a World Series messes with your mind. Just ask Cubs fans.

Here’s a touching story about Jason McElwain, an autistic high school student who serves as manager for his high school basketball team. The team allowed him to suit up for Senior Night, and with his team up by 20 points with four minutes to play, the coach put him in the game.
McElwain proceeded to nail six three-pointers and score 20 points in the final four minutes. As you can imagine, the entire gymnasium went nuts. Watch the video, and smile.

An Australian golf course refused to allow Bill Clinton to play because the club pro thought the call he received from Clinton’s people was a hoax, and said the course was too full.
Mr Dixon only found out yesterday that the call was authentic. “I just did what I thought was right at the time, but if I had’ve known it was legit, we would definitely have found room,” he said.
Medway Golf Club chief executive officer Noel Stringer said he would write to Mr Clinton to explain why he was knocked back.
“We don’t want to be known as the club who snubbed Bill Clinton,” Mr Stringer said.

Canada’s Lakehead University has limited the usage of wireless Internet on campus because the long-term health concerns of the technology are unproven.
This is something I’ve been concerned about for awhile. Cell phones and wireless Internet are certainly convenient, but is anyone else afraid that our massive exposure to such technology might dramatically increase the risks of cancer later in life?

Has anyone emerged as your favorite on American Idol? From the women, I thought Katharine, Lisa, Mandisa and Paris were the best this week. From the men, I liked Chris and Taylor. I’m desperately hoping that Brenna gets the boot this week, because she’s incredibly annoying.
