Intentionally childless
July 29th, 2005Al Mohler’s recent column about couples who are deliberately childless has generated quite a discussion at Steve McCoy’s site. Mohler argues in his article that couples who intentionally refrain from having children are living in moral rebellion to God. Interesting article, interesting discussion.
Just to clarify… Mohler’s argument is against those who intentionally refrain from EVER having children… as opposed to refraining for a time.

I think this discussion is like anylizing the ripples on the surface. What we need to be looking at is what are the deeper currents. Why do we make the choices we make? I’m not naive enough to believe that all of our motives are pure or evil but we need to look into our own hearts as a community and test ourselves.
This is a great discussion. I’m glad that Al Mohler chose to bring it up even if I don’t necessarily agree with him with his conclusions.
