Pray for the Mathenia family
January 24th, 2008Amber Mathenia, a 28-year-old mother of two, was killed in a car accident Tuesday night near Memphis. Amber and her husband Anthony are missionaries in Ethiopia but have been back in the United States for the adoption of their second child.
Anthony was returning from a two-week trip to Ethiopia and didn’t find out about Amber’s death until he got back home yesterday. What a tragedy.
I don’t know the Mathenias, but I have several friends who do. Please keep their family in your prayers.
UPDATE: Here’s a story I wrote about Amber.
Tim, we do know the Mathenias, but had not heard about Amber’s death! We are deeply grieved.
Thank you for posting this.
Thanks Tim. I will put them on the prayer list at my church.
I know the Mathenias, too and am so sad to hear this news. Thanks for posting this. I had no idea about this.
This is very sad news, indeed.
The Lord sustains all who fall; And raises up all who are bowed down. Psalm 145:14
May God’s grace and comfort be upon the Mathenias and Amber’s family.
Lord, may your peace that passes understanding fill the hearts of this family of your servants.
Tim,
Is this family any relation to the Mathenias in Pinckneyville and Red Bud, IL?

Tim, I really appreciate your column. You may not have known her, but you speak beautifully through those who did.
How very sad. We trust in our God who does all things well to sustain this family in their loss. Any update on the children?
The children are fine, physically speaking. I saw them myself at the funeral.
Christ was given much honor and glory at Amber’s funeral. I am amazed at the composure and grace God gave to Anthony for the service. The Lord’s grace astounds me.
I did not know her,but she seems to have touched alot of peoples lives. She is with God now,I also agree, very much, with Glenna’s last sentance.
