What abortion hath wrought
January 21st, 2007Be warned, this is not pleasant to watch. But we must not give up the fight. I often grow weary of people — Christians, even — talking about how they are not single-issue voters.
What other issue is more important?
May God have mercy on us — for are consciences are calloused, our resolve is weak and our hands are bloody.

Tim, I don’t see how anyone can watch this and still have any shred of support in their heart for such barbarianism. This is the most disturbing thing I have ever watched.
This makes me sick.
If this was a film showing puppies that had been abused and killed it would be causing an outrage nation-wide and somebody would be going to jail. However, I predict this film will not even be a blip on the radar screen in the US.
While Bush has been worried about atrocities commited by Saddam Hussein, this has been going on under his nose. Too bad he doesn’t expend half as much energy and money defending these 1.3 million American children as he does on a few hundred Iraqi Kurds.
I see no reason to blame Bush for this. He has tried to appoint conservative judges and has been shot down by Democrats. The woman who was the original Roe v Wade case in point says she was mislead at the time and now tries to reverse it, but the courts won’t let it happen. Clinton loaded our courts with liberal judges. Christians keep electing Democrats that control the selection of judges. Now, who do we blame?
George Bush could at any time send legislation to congress to outlaw abortion. He did no such thing for all the years that he had a republican controlled congress. Heck, he could even do it without congress apparently since he’s instituted all kinds of things with executive orders. Are there any executive orders on abortion? No.
He could have taken action, he did not. Its as simple as that. Christians have in fact kept electing REPUBLICANS for the last 20 years and they too have done nothing. The democrats are certainly not pro-life but at leat they’re honest about it. The repbulicans talk pro-life to get Christian votes then sit on their hands once elected.
BTW, per the constitution, the jurisdiction of the supreme court is under the control of congress. Why didn’t our republican congress simply remove abortion from the court’s jurisdition then outlaw it? Because the republican party is full of closet pro-abortion folks (among other things aparently)
My pastor mentioned on Sunday that in 1963 a Planned Parenthood brochure said clearly that ‘abortion is the killing of the child’…wow, what a difference 10 years makes. A google search for planned+parenthood+1963+brochure finds more info…
Larry, I agree with you about Bush and Republicans. While the President has tried to appoint pro-life judges, he has been noticably quiet in other means. In addition, he has given at least tacit approval to the “morning after” pill.
It is true that we have had a bunch of spineless Republicans, but when the new media is heavily biased against conservatives and they get beat up on every time they attempt something good, how many committed Christians are rising up and letting their voices be heard? I’m a former Democrat but abortion, same sex marriage and such issues drove me away. Let’s don’t make excuses for them when abortion was made legal through liberal judges rulings.
My fiance told me about this video, and I was reminded of a display put up by a pro-life group on the campus where I currently am a grad student. They blew up huge pictures not unlike the ones in this video, and displayed them on large black canvases. People were angry because they felt “violated” and didn’t want to be exposed to something so disturbing. At least they have a choice. Those babies didn’t.
I just recently decided to become a single issue voter, but what concerns me about this is that, as someone else mentioned, so few politicians are really avidly pro-life these days. Some, like new presidential candidate Giuliani, are pro-life in private but pro-choice (aka pro-death) in public because they don’t want to impose their morality on anyone. That disgusts me. So what to do when it seems that no one will stick up for this issue?
Marilyn, I understand where you are coming from. I don’t think anyone here is giving the Dems a free pass. They are what they are–liberal. Yes, they contributed heavily to the passage of abortion rights, etc. No one is in denial about their role in this tragedy.
What ticks me off though, is the Republicans have had opportunity since then to right the wrong, but have strangely become passive. They have campaigned on the issue of abortion, but have not followed through with their promises. Yes, there are some who have tried (Rick Santorum, for one) but they have basically been left to twist in the wind by their “conservative” colleagues.
We need some lawmakers who are more concerned about pleasing God than they are about playing out well on the news channels.
IT’S NOT ONLY REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT PEOPLE!!!!! THOSE WHO FOLLOW THAT FALICY ARE AS SPINLESS AS THE REPUBLICANS!!!!! Constitution Party is my party!
With all due respect, Newman, to you and your loudly proclaimed affiliation, when the Constitution party becomes large enough and powerful enough to play a role in this debate, we will diss them too.
