Blog update

May 19th, 2008

I’m not sure what the future of this blog is going to be. To be honest, I’ve grown somewhat bored with the whole blogging thing. I don’t have any plans to retire it completely, but at this point I really have no idea how frequently I’ll be blogging in the weeks ahead.

Maybe I’m going through a temporary funk, and maybe it’s more permanent. I don’t know for certain right now.

Just wanted to give you an update, in case you wondered where I’ve been.

  1. I second that emotion, Tim.

My blogging lately has come in “spurts”….and none of it particularly interesting or original.

Between the demands of church, family, summer schedules, and all of the golf I wish I was playing…. it’s hard to find the time or energy to creatively blog.

    I feel your pain.

Well that would be a shame. This is my favorite blog!

I can definitely relate. It’s hard to know sometimes whether what I write about really matters. There are many far more talented bloggers out there than me. Sometimes it feels like I don’t have anything to add. Plus, with the demands of my normal job, family, and church it’s difficult to find time to blog.

Very true Tom but Tim is a very talented journalistic writer. I’ve never not enjoyed anything he has written. Not all but others here I can’t say so much. I would like to encourage Tim to keep blogging because really most other blogs annoy me, plus I might actually get something done here at work if he quits!

Tim, I’ve always found a really nice cigar helps me when I’m in a slump. I just write better with a nice big cigar and a glass of brandy.

  5. I think there is an important niche for theologically informed commentary on sports that needs to be filled. Your blog does that very well, Tim. But I also feel that the blogging phenomenon isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Tim for what it’s worth, I started blogging after running into your blog back in the day when you were on wordpress.

Whatever you decide to do, thanks for the work you have done here.

Have you considered taking on some other contributors? I have picked up a couple of guys who post from time to time and it helps to keep the updates current and my small readership (and even smaller comment-ready readers) coming back. I bet some of the guys here, if they had something that was more fitting for your blog, would post occassionally and that would keep your blog current until (if ever) you get “unbored” with it. :)

    Just some thoughts.

Hey Tim, for the record, I hope you decide against shutting down. But if that’s what needs to happen, thanks for hosting an entertaining and thought-provoking discussion for the past few years. It’s been a pleasure.

  9. Tim says:

    Thanks, guys.

Just to be clear, I’m not going to close up shop. I just may not post as frequently as I have in the past — which will mean reduced traffic, which may mean fewer comments. We’ll see how it goes.

The Ellsworth’s have a wonderful writing gift. However you choose to use your gift will be a blessing. God bless, brother.
