Introducing the Sword & Trowel

February 3rd, 2007

My longtime buddy Klay Aspinwall has jumped into the blogosphere with his blog, Sword & Trowel. Klay is pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Delray Beach, Fla. And despite the fact that he’s an avid Seminole fan, I highly recommend that you give his blog a look. I can guarantee you’ll find Klay’s thoughts to be challenging.

Klay and I have been friends since college, and he’s very much a kindred spirit. I’m glad that he’s blogging and I’m looking forward to what he’ll have to say. You’ll find a permanent link to him in the menu to the left under the “Old Friends” category.

I’ve also added a few other links to the list as well. Chad Ozee is a guy I’ve known since junior high, I believe. If I remember correctly, he lived in Wayne City, Ill., when my dad was pastor in Fairfield, Ill. Chad’s blog is Life in Oz, and he’ll be blogging about family, faith, worship and sports. His link is under the “Old Friends” category.

A couple of weeks ago I added a link under “New Friends” to Life … More or Less, the blog by frequent commenter Leland Lyerla. Leland is a coworker of mine and a fellow Cardinals fan and Southern Illinois native.

Finally, I came across The Yepiz Zone, as Mr. Yepiz was kind enough to link to me. I don’t know anything about him other than what his profile says. But given the fact that he’s a baseball fanatic, a history junkie (who likes Joseph Ellis as I do) and a conservative evangelical, I can tell we have much in common. The link to his blog is under the “Reciprocal Friends” category.

Hey, thanks! I guess you noticed the “r - u - a - Nole - 2″ on the address. Have you looked at FSU’s offensive coaching changes? Looks pretty good, with Jimbo Fisher coming from LSU (and resisting the ‘dark side’ of Saban and Alabama).

With TE regulars following your link, I may have to put a stoplight in my two hourse town 8-)

  2. Leland…with a blog….. the end must be upon us.

Thanks for the link to Klay’s blog as well. Fantastic!

  3. So Tim, how long does one have to linger on your “New Friends” blogroll till they become an “Old Friend”?

  4. Tim says:

Good question, Joel — and one I’ll have to ponder.

  5. If you are going to consider “promoting” new friends to old friends, whatever will you do with your old friends?

  6. Chad says:

Hey Tim, thanks for the promo. And now that you have added me as an “Old Friend”, I have definative answers to two questions.

    Q. How can you relate to an overwhelmingly Senior Adult congregation?

    A. I am Old, just look on timellsworth.com

    Q. Do you have any friends?

    A. Yep, just look on timellsworth.com
