My guess would be that instead of it being an “either/or” church (either having no instrumental accompaniment at a worship service or offering instruments at all services), they have determined to be a “both/and” church….offering services that provide both venues.
There are two songs that I have to hear this time of year that kick me into “Christmas mode”. Both are country songs; “Christmas in Dixie” by Alabama (even before I moved to Tennessee) and “New Kid in Town” by Keith Whitley.
This morning, to my surprise I heard the first on WNWS on my drive to work. Still waiting to hear “New Kid in Town”…
Anyone else have a song that kicks off the holiday season?
Leland–
“Merry Christmas from the Family,” by Robert Earl Keen. First line: “Mom got drunk and dad got drunk at our Christmas party.” Great song.
Everyone–
What happened with Bryant Gumbel on his play by play last night? I heard Mike and Mike talking about it this morning, but never heard them say what he actually did.
Please pray for my Mom today. Dad rushed her to the ER last night. Symptoms seem to point to either spinal meningitis or some kind of septic infection in the blood. She is currently in the ICU receiving antibiotics through IV.
Gordon - I’m right there with you. I was optimistic last night and was in bed at 10; the last time I remember looking at the alarm clock, it read 1:15.
Brett - I’m praying for you too, man.
Leland - “Christmas in Dixie” and the Porky Pig rendition of “B-b-b-b-b-b-b-lue C-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-hristmas”
Thanks, guys. Things aren’t looking real good right now, it’s confirmed as septic infection. A heart specialist is going in this afternoon to look at her heart. They think perhaps there is a clot in there. I just booked a flight for in the morning. Probably won’t be on the internet for a few days. I appreciate your prayers through the weekend. God is good.
Hey, hey, hey!
It’s the Fat Albert Show!
I think Gordon may be a Baptist vampire! 2:10 am, dude?
Chck out the snowball fight in Hell. The larget Church of Christ in the country is starting an instrumental worship service.

The both/ And Church ??? What the fart does that mean?
Tony, Gordon’s no vampire. He just stays up late on Thursday nights in order to be first on “Open Blog Friday.”

Bold step….I like it.

It was actually 3:10 A.M. where I live. I am happy to say, however, that I do not suffer from porphyria but from insomnia.
You can rest in peace.

We’ll keep you guys in our prayers, Brett. Keep us updated.

“Fart…”
Tim, can I add that to the list of words that I can use on this blog?
Is that what we’ve come to on this blog?
What a disaster the Texans-Titans game was… of all the ways that could have gone down, grrr….
