  1. Armen says:

Sorry brother Tim, but not being American I find it pretty much impossible to be excited.

  2. Paul S. says:

Armen I will pray for you.

  3. I wonder if Armen would rather watch cricket?

Here’s an article comparing baseball and cricket.

I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts on Luke 11.14 through the end of chapter 11.

    1. I wanted to see if anyone knows the over-arching main point of this chunk of text.

    2. What is the meaning/point of the example Christ gives concerning the unclean spirit coming back with 7 more stronger than himself?

    3. What is the meaning/point behind the part when Jesus talks about the Queen of the South and Jonah and the Ninevites?

    4. What is the meaning/point of last section of this passage concerning the rebuke to the Pharisee and the lawyer?

    5. Why does Jesus respond to their charge concerning casting out demons by Satan with a retort about their son’s casting out demons and then follows that up with a question of who’s power do they think their sons are casting out demons?

    6. Why do you think Luke included this portion of text here?

    7. When Jesus says that if He cast them out by the finger of God, then you know that the kingdom of God is upon you- what do you think was the message He was wanting the Pharisees to glean from that statement?

Just some questions I thought might be good to look into and discuss if anybody wants to: iron sharpening iron.

  5. jasonk says:

It’s another year, and another chance for me to root for my beloved Orioles. Go birds!

  6. Armen says:

Cricket?? Agh!!! I’d rather watch paint dry!

  7. Travis says:

Go Reds! A sweep of the Cubbies would be a great season opener.

  8. jasonk says:

In an interview with the Greenville News, Chris Sligh said he never wanted to win American Idol anyway. He only wanted to make it into the top 10, which he did.

    Grapes. Sour. Dang!

  9. Laz says:

I used to be a lot more excited about this when I was younger. Something happened at college (can’t pinpoint what) that changed my outlook towards America’s past time and it hasn’t been the same since.

    Champions League anyone?

  10. The Zoner says:

Here’s the link to the story: http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070330/NEWS01/703300336

More interesting to me is this part of the article:

Sligh said he has no hard feelings, even though he was expelled from Bob Jones after attending a contemporary Christian concert featuring the group For Him.

“They kicked me out,” Sligh said. “It was actually good, because I had been trying to figure out how to leave. My parents had given me the option of going to two colleges, and I chose the less-crazy one, believe it or not.”

Sligh’s history with Bob Jones followed him throughout the competition.

“I specifically kept my comments about Bob Jones to myself, just for personal reasons,” Sligh said.

“I don’t want to throw them underneath the bus. I respect what they do — it’s just that their sect of Christianity is not really what I want to be associated with.”

  11. misawa says:

Great! Now I’m all caught up on Chris Sligh the same week he’s voted off. I’ve really gotta make more time for TV…

  12. I wonder how green the field is in the baseball stadium in heaven…
Jesus is on my team! He was a carpenter, think of how strong his wrists would be…the ultimate Mickey Mantle wrists.

  13. Oh Tim, nothing would make me happier than watch the Cardinals obliterate the Mets Sunday night. They deserve it for their cockiness.

  14. Laz,

I’m all for the Champion’s League. My Merseyside Reds look strong and fit to bounce PSV!

Do you have a squad that you follow still in the Tourney?

  15. Ditto on Champions League!

  16. Travis says:

I prefer the National League myself!

  17. Laz says:

    Luke,
I am your father (sorry pointless Star Wars aside)…

I’ve been following PSV because it’s the only team that Telemundo seems to showcase on Saturdays. Also because Carlos Salcido (Mexico) joined the team this last season and I try to follow the Mexicans who play in Europe (Marquez, Osorio, Pardo et al).

I had no idea there were soccer fans here…

    Didn’t Liverpool take out Barca?

  18. Liverpool took out Barcelona in the first knockout round 1-2 and 1-0.

I’m hoping Crouch will pull out his signature robot dance sometime in the finals!

  19. Paul S. says:

Scott can you say that about Jesus, and can I laugh at it?

  20. Laz says:

    You gotta love Lurch’s antics…

  21. Go ahead Paul. And while you’re at it, you can laugh at this too:
This Sunday is when Jesus rode the giant bunny into town and everyone lined the street with colorful eggs, but hid them under plastic grass clippings.

  22. Greg P. says:

To hard to resist — Did anyone catch Late Show Math on David Letterman last night –

Fox Network - American Idol = TELEMUNDO!

  23. jasonk says:

Plastic grass clippings? Oh, do you mean
    Eastroturf?

  24. Newman says:

I don’t think I’ve ever been apart of a conversation where men talked about wrists. I don’t know that I’ve ever talked about wrists cept when someone broke em. I guess big wrists are good? Do big wrists come with big hands? What if the wrists were big but elbows were small?

  25. OK, so let me get this straight. We can talk about American Idol and international soccer on a sports blog, but no one wants to talk about NASCAR being a sport?

What is the matter with you people?

  26. Oh Newman, you’ve obviously never seen the Mick’s wrists. That was the source of all his power.

  27. And bingo, jasonk.

  28. Armen says:

    Champions League!! Now that’s sport!

  29. Armen says:

Scott - Are you being distastfully sarcastic or just outright blasphemous?

  30. Good question.

  31. Jason says:

My guess is that Scott is being culturally reflective.

Whether that happens to be one of the other outcomes you posed, Armen, may be the statement that Scott was trying to make.

  32. There ya go.
Didn’t mean to offend you, if I did, Armen.

  33. Someone please tell me why I’mreading so much about this deal that Kentucky is supposedly going to offer Billy Donovan. Either this is a done deal already, or Kentucky is making total jerks of themselves. Are they courting ANY other coaches? Why let this much information leak out in the middle of the Final Four? Are the Kentucky fans that desperate for attention?

  34. Newman says:

funny clip about the apple irack
