It’s Open Blog Friday

August 31st, 2007

Talk about whatever is on your mind. Plug your blog. Tell us who’s going to win the NL Central. Give us your recipe for homemade ice cream.

If you’ve been itching to say something, now’s your chance.

Wow!! I get to be first. I am honored.

I am just finishing a seven-day baseball road trip with three of my buddies from college. We saw six games in four different cities: Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. You can check out the pictures on my Flickr page: http://flickr.com/photos/peterrieke

I will pose a question to ya’ll. Do you consider swearing taking the Lords name in vain? What I mean is obviously taking the Lords name in vain is a violation of the 10 commandments. I am not saying that swearing is right but is it the same as taking the Lords name in vain?

I will give a shamless plug for my blog. It is not great and does not have many posts, but I would love to have all of Tim’s regulars to stop by and browse around. The archive has some posts that may interest some of you.

  5. Well, I’ll take the opportunity to show off my astoundingly adorable nephew — http://www.flickr.com/photos/87832879@N00/1279753954/

And to say that as of tomorrow night, in the words of the great John Ward, IT’S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!! Yay!

Tim, it looks like your Cub fears may be coming about: http://www.timellsworth.com/?p=1649

ESPN has lost its mind! That’s what I blogged about today at http://usetheoxgoad.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html. The Reds’ Brandon Phillips made the most spectacular play of any 2B this year and the play was not even shown on Baseball Tonight, let alone listed as one of the webgems. It’s a travesty!

  8. Paul S. says:

Tim can feel great about the NL central. Not b/c of how well the Cards are playing; but b/c of who is in front of the Cards. In fact, with the Cubs and the Brewers ahead of him I think that Tim could take the NL central by himself.

  9. Travis says:

The NL Central is awful. Even witht he Reds 10 games under .500 they still have an outside chance at the division. I’m not sure why the link in my last comment isn’t working. Maybe this one will http://usetheoxgoad.blogspot.com/2007/08/espn-has-lost-its-mind.html.

  10. verne says:

NFL season gets underway next week, college this weekend, highschool last weekend, and my sons youth league starts next weekend. I love football season.

Who does everyone think is the favorite in the super bowl?

What about the national championship[ game, who do ya’ll like?

  11. Tourian says:

Travis, the period at the end of your link is the problem. I went to your link, deleted the period and it worked. Cheers.

    Verne:

Regarding swearing in general as taking the Lord’s name in vain: No, I don’t consider that to be taking His name in vain … but I do consider swearing to be annoying and offensive (sometimes — and then, certain other times, I find it funny).

Do I ever swear/cuss? Yes, including occasional F-bombs, even, and yes, I have taken the Lord’s name in vain. Am I proud of it? No. In fact, generally, when I do cuss, I am upset about something and would actually probably be better off NOT saying a word … let alone opening my mouth and spewing out a bunch of cuss words.

(I try not to cuss too much when I blog.)

    : )

  13. Jim Toms says:

I no longer itch to say anything. I started using Gold Bond medicated powder.

  14. Tourian says:

Jim, is that regular or triple- OH MY!!! RANKIEL JUST HIT A GRAND SALAMI!!! Anyway, I use the triple gold bond medicated powder.

  15. Jim Toms says:

Of course. Triple for three times the active ingredient as the leading brand. Only makes sense.

  16. Cineaste says:

Holy Cow! This guy can shoot a pistol fast. The reload is pretty slick too.

  17. Jim Toms says:

    That’s incredible.

  18. Jamie Wootten says:

How does Michael Henig throw 6 interceptions?

Good thing he is on scholarship and getting his education paid for. Sure won’t be playing on Sundays…

Speaking of cool gun things, I shot Jack Bauer’s gun this past weekend. It was awesome!
