wow! I get to be first this late in the morning? Is everybody sleeping or what? I posed the best team in football question a few weeks ago. How bout college hoops. I know it is early but who do you think is tops in the nation to start the season. We can safely say it is not Kentucky after losing to Gardner Webb. Not a good way for Mr. Gilessppi to celerate his 48th birthday. I know the spelling of his name is wrong.

There’s a great FLYLEAF concert online. It’s a professionally shot concert in Hollywood from earlier in the year. Good stuff…

AT&T blue room - Live Nation concert series with FLYLEAF

The whole thing is great - but if you have time for just one song. Check out ‘There For You’.

Ron Paul vs Ben Bernanke - Monetary Inflation - 11.08.07

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj9KHJRRUbQ

Excellent video. Ron Paul seems to be the only candidate sticking up for us little guys.

  4. Neuman says:

when I say little I was not referring to the size and mass of my body. I am not claiming to be a little guy in that sense.

  5. The Zoner says:

Thanks Neuman! I’ll check it out later. He raised $4.3 million in a 24-hr Internet blitz Tuesday that set a 1-day Republican record. Maybe the buzz from that will get people to look at him as a viable candidate.

  6. Neuman says:

I like how he would rather states decided on issues rather than force the country as a whole to decide. I would rather move to a different state than a different country. He is brilliant yet so practical. After listening to many clips on youtube he is the only one that obviously cares about the people and our freedom. He raised $4.3 Million with an average donation of something line $103. I also gave Fox news a call and let them know what I think about them leaving Paul out of the Dec. 4th debate!

  7. Cineaste says:

    Jimmy “The Cat Killer” Carter

    5/13/90

    To Sybil,

Lamentably, I killed your cat while trying just to sting it. It was crouched, as usual, under one of our bird feeders & I fired from some distance with bird shot. It may ease your grief somewhat to know that the cat was buried properly with a prayer & that I’ll be glad to get you another of your choice.

I called & came by your house several times. We will be in the Dominican Republic until Thursday. I’ll see you then.

    Love, Jimmy

    Just trying to sting it?!?

  8. The Zoner says:

Well Ron Paul does not fit the into the type of candidate that Fox News wants. What Hannity (an absolute hack that will not accept anyone’s points) tried to do to Paul was despicable.

    I’m going to write too.

  9. Neuman says:

Paul is in for a rough ride! There are many who don’t want him to win. He’s bad for business.

  10. I understand why Ron Paul is appealing, but the man has some ideas that I am uncomfortable with. The abolition of Medicare? Immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq? This country needs more stability in 08, not upheaval. There’s no way that he could get Congress to go along with any of these ideas, so why talk about them?

He’s a little too out there for me. Anyone else feel the same way?

  11. Stephen says:

Not sure if this qualifies as an official source, but this site is claiming that “Ron Paul WILL be in the IOWA December 4th debate! Just confirmed live on Ron Paul Radio straight from the Iowa Ron Paul HQ offices.”

    http://ronpaul.meetup.com/16/calendar/6697990/

  12. Craig says:

Yes, Luke, I’m with you. Paul is such a strict constructionist that he would never get anywhere as president. Fine for 1828, not so sure about 2008.

  13. Marilyn says:

Ron Paul reminds me of Rip VanWinkle, he seems to have been asleep for the last 20 years, at least. I think we have a nightmare on our hands now that he is unable to recognize.

  14. Neuman says:

Paul may be 1828 but we are 1984 right now on our way to 1929 and 1828 looks mighty good to me Craig. I don’t agree with everything but I agree with the constitution and the bill of rights and I believe in freedom. Ever since this so called conservative, prolife, party has been in power, there is less free, more death, less money, fewer jobs, more corruption and a lot of shady events and unanswered questions. We are controlled by a bunch of elitists who give two craps for any one of use debating who to vote for.

  15. misawa says:

My issue with Paul - and mind you that I’m a supporter - is his view on foreign policy. He’s too isolationist.

That said, even if he does get in to the oval orifice, what’s he going to do? The real power, in a manner of speaking, is in Congress.

  16. The Zoner says:

Well considering all the alternatives, I think Paul is the best candidate. He’s for a non-interventionist foreign policy and he’s basically all about reduced government, and common sense government. I think we need more 1828 and a lot less 2008. This America is pretty un-American.

I think he understands the nightmare completely Marilyn. It’s a conflict that will never, ever be resolved to any satisfaction, and we can’t afford it even if we wanted to.

I don’t buy into the fear/terror/we’re doomed if we leave theories. If they cannot get a government going by now, are they really ever going to? If they do, does that mean that region is forever stable and we will never have to deal with terrorism again?

As for medicare Luke, here’s why he opposes it. It’s just bad business. http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul372.html

  17. The Zoner says:

I hear ya Misawa and Luke on the issue of Congress, but isn’t that what a good president does–rally congress to produce and make progress?

Furthermore, from what I have read there aren’t many congressman that are more respected by his peers than Paul.

  18. Craig says:

Look, I don’t mean to be insulting, because I think Paul’s heart is in the right place, but at some point you have to ask yourself, “what will work?” Some of you may remember Jimmy Carter — his administration was a total disaster because he couldn’t work and play well with others. He had huge Democrat majorities in Congress, and everything ground to a halt because he didn’t have a clue. Congress’ power lies in giving money away, and they would chew up Paul and spit him out. I find his positions naive and confused, and I don’t see him as a viable candidate. But I would vote for him over HillBilly.

  19. The Zoner says:

Fair enough. But Jimmy Carter was a state senator in Georgia and then governor of Georgia before becoming president. That was the extent of his political experience.

Ron Paul is a physician, a veteran, and a house member dating back to the 70’s. He has also already ran for president. I’m fairly certain no one will ‘chew him up and spit him out’.

  20. TheTonyDanzaAllstar says:

    My issue with Paul? -

I see a guy standing on the street corner with one of his signs advertising for him with a V for Vendetta mask on, wearing a black hat, black clothes, and black cape.

  21. j razz says:

Unless something drastic happens with Fred Thompson, I believe I am at a point of making a decision between Huckabee and Paul. I am starting to give more credence to Paul although I was unimpressed with the delivery of his responses during the debate.

Tony, (can I call you that?) I think the symbolism is deep and parallels ideologically quite well. I don’t think Ron Paul would blow up Congress, but on another level, there would be a lot of changes to where Congress as we know it might not even exist (that is, if he as the President, can effect that kind of change by having Congress and the American people to buy into it and support it).

For anyone interested, NOVA will be airing a new dramatization of the Dover, PA case on November 13 at 8:00 pm.

Judgement Day: Intelligent Design on Trial

    Here is the program’s website…

  23. TheTonyDanzaAllstar says:

I didn’t know where else to post this other than open blog Friday, but are people seriously asking “what’s wrong with Vince Young?” He’s not good, and its not like he was awesome last year and not this year. He has never been that great!

  24. TheTonyDanzaAllstar says:

    jrazz,

The V for Vendetta guy was actually kinda cool seeing him out there. The weird thing I didn’t add though was this guy was out there and some (dare I say) slightly overweight ladies with short shorts and visors were standing with him, and also holding Paul signs. Maybe I’m not sure of the exact plan that went into that campaign strategy? I didn’t get the symbolism in that I guess.

  25. Laz says:

    Tony,
When I doubt VY I just pop in my copy of the 2006 Rose Bowl and watch in amazement.

He didn’t exactly set the world on fire at UT when he first started, give him time.

  26. Laz says:

    Cine,
A colleague of mine who is passionate (he is an agnostic who pretends to be an atheist) about this issue (he’s even doing his master’s thesis on it) told me about this program.

Didn’t watch it and frankly I could care less if ID is taught in schools.

I do have somewhat of a personal tie to the Dover case however.

The scientific establishment’s star witness, one Robert Pennock, was my first college professor at Texas.

I took his introductory Philosophy course (”Contemporary Moral Problems”) as an impressionable freshman. Needless to say after that semester I was a fully avowed relativist, paving the way for 4 years of debauched behavior.

The fact that a professor of Philosophy is called upon to testify on behalf of the so-called “evolution” side speaks volumes.

  27. The Zoner says:

I used to work for PBS. Do you know what those letters stand for? Pretty Bad Salary. Oh, and does PBS lean left? Most certainly.

    Check this out:
A judge who lost a $54 million lawsuit against his dry cleaner over a pair of missing pants has lost his job, District of Columbia officials said. Roy Pearson’s term as an administrative law judge expired May 2 and the D.C. Commission on Selection and Tenure of Administrative Law Judges has voted not to reappoint him, Lisa Coleman, the city’s general counsel, wrote Nov. 8 in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from The Associated Press.

  28. Shameless plug for my blog…please come discuss my latest post. Would really like to hear what you all think.

  29. TheTonyDanzaAllstar says:

    Laz,

I agree, he developed into a great college quarterback. While I acknowledge you point that he is young (no pun intended), I get tired of seeing all the articles on ESPN “What’s wrong with VY?” However, I just feel like even when he was drafted he was way over-hyped because of his big final game.

  30. Yes!! Bonds is indicted!!
