Darn interesting tidbit for Tim’s trip to Beijing…

No big bums: China prepares Olympic hostesses.

Their determination to succeed is not just for themselves, they say, but for the honour of China. And these are just the young women who want to be chosen to carry the medals to the prize-giving ceremonies at this summer’s Beijing Olympics.

    They are carefully selected:

They are all roughly the same height - five foot six to five foot seven and a half. They are all good-looking, and they all have “good physique”, a point picked on by delighted Chinese newspapers who are reporting that big bottoms had been banned. They have a maximum weight - eight stone nine pounds - and the ratio of their upper to lower bodies must be 11:13.

There’s even a visible tooth requirement:

Girls are expected to smile continuously, showing if at all possible a recommended six to eight teeth, something it is possible to practise by inserting chopsticks in the mouth sideways.

3:10 to Yuma was excellent. FYI-There is some language. But I love Bale and Crowe and they did not disappoint. I love me them Westerns!

For an old school western, check out “Lonely Are the Brave” with Kirk Douglas.

  3. Cineaste says:

Agree with Z about 3:10 to Yuma. Great flick.

  4. Stephen says:

3:10 was my favorite film last year. I believe it just came out on DVD.

  5. “the ratio of their upper to lower bodies must be 11:13″

Ha! Why not just say long legs? How precise.

Silly Quote of the Day at my blog, plus an update on my mother in law and her health. I had forgotten about this quote until it came up on my desk calendar for today. Thanks Tim for letting us plug our blogs on your megablog site. :-)

  7. The Zoner says:

Cine or anyone– have you seen “The Lives of Others”? It’s next for me.

  10. Strangest news I’ve heard in a while…

NBA decides to replay 51.9 seconds of a game:

May I ask the Christians here a question? Do animals have souls? What is the Evangelical stance on this? I ask because I read this and it got me thinking…

A pet dog missed the family’s dead cat so much that he dug up his grave and brought the body back into the house.

When Oscar’s owners woke up the next morning they discovered the dog curled up beside Arthur, the late cat, in his basket.

His owners, Robert Bell, 73, and his wife, Mavis, of Wigan, Greater Manchester, believe that the dog had licked the cat clean before falling asleep.

Mr Bell said that the two pets were constant companions. Arthur, who was a large cat, used to help Oscar to climb on to the sofa.

Oscar, an 18-month-old Lancashire Heeler, had watched Mr Bell dig a grave in the garden and then lower the cat into the hole.Mr Bell said: “He had managed to climb out through the cat flap in the night, obviously with the intent to get Arthur back. Bearing in mind that Arthur was a huge cat, Oscar must have used all the strength he could muster.

“Then he pulled him into the basket and went to sleep next to him. Arthur’s coat was gleaming white. Oscar had obviously licked him clean. It must have taken him nearly all night.” - Times Online

In my opinion animals do not have souls. This may go against the movie that all dogs go to heaven ;-)

We had our baby girl Addelyn Diane on January 9, 2008 at 4:22 PM. Everything was and is perfect. No problems at all! Anyone who cares to take a look you can check her out at www.tbasink.smugmug.com. All the pictures were taken with my used but new to me Rebel XT! I need a flash if anyone has any recommendations. I think I’ve got a 28-135mm lens.

  14. Kevin says:

You will need a decent flash. I use Nikon so i dont know much about Canon but i will tell you to get a good/fast lens and get rid of the big zoom things which are awful unless you are paying $1000+ for them stick with prime lens or tameron make a decent 17-55mm 2.8 that is nice.

  15. Tim says:

    Congratulations, Tyler!

  16. j razz says:

Congrats! As for a flash, I use this one: 580 EX II. Make sure you get a soft diffuser.
