24: Hour 15

March 26th, 2007

Anybody else have a hard time believing that Wayne Palmer is suddenly A-OK? The guy was in a coma and near death, but now he’s fine and ready to resume his duties. Yeah, OK.

Interesting little exchange between Milo and Ricky Stratton/Schroeder, plus the guy from division. I wonder where that’s going to lead.

I thought it was interesting that Rainman made an appearance.

Also, I don’t know about where you work, but if I went up to my assistant and planted a hot wet one on her lips, I’d be fired and sued for sexual harrassment.

It may have been implausible, but it sure was sweet to watch VP Noah get his little Noah’s handed to him on a platter.

  2. Maybe Wayne is somehow Jack’s long lost brother. After all, Jack just finished two years of torture in China without speaking, but somehow he has not missed a step.

    Wayne Palmer is suddenly A-OK

Believable? Hardly. Plausible? Maybe. Vintage 24? Most definitely.

Echoing JasonK, it sure was sweet to watch

  4. Paul S. says:

Why doesn’t Palmer’s cheif of staff go ahead and come clean with the attempt on Palmer’s life? The VP can’t do anything to him now, and it would ruin the VP’s chance for taking Palmer’s chair.

  5. Newman says:

We are only on season 4 but already its getting old. Its a non stop torture session. Its pretty ridiculous. I’m about done with this show. It all sounds the same over and over.

  6. Did anyone else think the third hostile in the SUV that Jack shot was his father? It was only for a split second, but it looked to me like it was a tall guy, kinda thin, with gray hair…

  7. Paul S. says:

    Newman,
With an attitude like that, on a blog like this, you better watch out for flying objects.

  8. Did anyone catch Jack’s yawn after he put Brady in the SUV after they catched Gredanko? Me and my wife was wondering if that was a blooper.

  9. jasonk says:

    Paul,
It was realism, because its a long dang day. I’d be yawning too, looking for a nap.

I don’t mind all the torture. Heck, if it came down to a nucular (as Jack and W like to say) explosion in my city or someone putting a drill bit in some guy’s knee, I know which one I’d choose.

And what’s with all the romance on a day like this. I’ve always wondered about that. You’ve got the world coming to an end, and there’s Potsi and his girlfriend arguing about who she was looking at.

  10. Bill Nettles says:

I’m glad something finally turned out right. The situation with Brady (Rainman) had disaster written all over it.

Good twist with Silver Spoons doing the right thing. He may be around for a while. Look for him to go to China with Jack to help find Audrey.

  11. Newman says:

Makes no sense because I’d admit to building the nuke if they were going to run a drill bit through my knee or my pinky. I’d tell them whatever they wanted to hear thats my point! How on this earth can you gain quality info from torture? ‘W’ loves this show because it rationalizes his unconstitutional actions. Anyway I did like the show but it just seems to be the same over and over. Does anyone else feel the same? Jericho is so much better!

  12. Check out the review at Blogcritics, it is pretty good. http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/03/27/152037.php

  13. Here are sermons based on 24 tv show. These sermons came from Pleasant Valley Evangelical Free Church in Winona, Minnesota.

    24 “The Day”

    24 The Evening Hours”

  14. Paul S. says:

    Paul Schafer,

I am not sure what you think about those thinks; I hope that you are not real big on them. A Pastor around here did the exact same series (some one must me ripping someone off). Quite frankly I think that it is a steaming pile…

God clearly lays out his method for spreading the Gospel, and that is through the preaching of Scripture. In fact, we can also see that the Spirit of God works through the preaching of Scripture. Thus if you want to be a wise-guy (1 Cor 1:18ff) then you can use catchy gimicks like 24 sermons. If you want to be a fool (1 Cor 1:18ff) who is empowered by the Spirit then you better stick to God’s revealed word.

  15. Paul,

So you are saying you listen to all three of them? Pastor Rick Iglesias is no flake, but a man of God and a good preacher. So, if you want to be contentious and divisive, do the biblical thing of church discipline and email him at rick@pvefc.org or keep your mouth shut!

  16. Paul S. says:

    Paul,

I am sorry if my comments seemed harsh. However you are the one who brought this issue up for the people on this blog to look at. Here are several responses to you comment:

    1) The biblical mandate of church discipline is a matter for the local churches, and the elders of that local church. Additionally it is for issues of blatant sin, not a misguided philosophy of ministry.

    2) As to the character of Pastor Rick, I am sure that he loves Jesus. What makes me sad is that he is not doing ministry the way that Jesus did, and that his preaching does not leave room for the Spirit of God to do His work. The bible clearly teaches that the Spirit of God works through the Word of God to accomplish the purposes of God. If we, God’s people, are not using the resources that He has left for us then what are we going to accomplish? How are we going to further the Kingdom of God?

    3) I also happen to think that as entertaining as 24 is, it is also a perfect picture of unbiblical pragmatism. The “theology of Jack” is to do whatever it takes, and the end justifies the means. This is obviously unbiblical.

These are several of the reasons that I had issues with these sermons. If Tim would like me to let this issue be then I will gladly keep quiet, since it is his blog. But if you do not want people to respond to you then you probably should not be posting comments on the internet.
