24: Hour 17

April 9th, 2007

Jack single-handedly manages to secure the nukes and save the world. So what else is new?

I’m a little surprised by the development with Audrey, as I figured that would be a plotline for another season. Is this the first time there have been two seemingly unrelated plotlines going on in the same season?  Pretty convenient how the Chinese managed to call Jack immediately after he saved the world.

  1. Tim,

The writers did better this week than last week to get the plot going again. I knew Fayed would die by this episode and Cheng/Audrey storyline would pop up soon.

It looks like Jack would be alienated from the Presidency if Jack get’s his wish from Palmer to go after them, then Palmer dies or something and VP steps in and discredits Jack, just like at the end of season 4. Now you see Doyle against Jack at the end of the preview. Papa Bauer, Logan, Cheng and VP are in control. They probably can monitor everything through CTU since that is why Cheng knew when to call. The number Cheng gave was probably the number Papa Bauer gave on the ledge to call Logan. Has anyone called the 310 number yet? It is probably the 24 Fan Line.

Jack just cant catch a break (literally) and unfortunately the show is getting a bit too predictable. The one curveball this season was that the guy who used to be on ER was Jack’s brother. I do agree that somehow, Jack is getting played here, it’s clearly the reason that Jack’s dad didnt kill him. It would be nice to see them bring closure to Jack’s conflict with the Chinese which has been a sub-plot for three seasons now.

Fake nuclear strike by Palmer–saw that one coming.

Fake rescue of Fayed–didn’t see that one, but was wondering how the “terrorists” would know Jack’s route back to CTU. Did anyone notice that Fayed didn’t flinch to the answer of how they knew where to rescue him? Gen. Habib has a mole at CTU. Fayed must have known that was true.

Jack + one 9 mm handgun = total death and destruction of 6 guys with Uzis and AK-47s. He has got to be the best shot in the world…maybe he IS.

And did you catch Doyle’s comment when he saw Fayed? Even he was shocked at how brutal it was.

I think the Chinese are trying to get a suitcase nuke, or maybe the reprogrammer, and that’s what the confrontation is between Doyle and Jack.

  4. I thought that last night was the best episode since Jack shot Curtis. We should be pretty accustomed to these whiplash plot changes by now. I think that this might actually work to bring some closure to the Chinese plotline and at the same time be pretty entertaining. Also, I thought that the action scene at the end was one of the best that I have seen in quite a while.
