24: Hour 7

February 5th, 2007

I’m going to have to brag on this one a little bit, because last week I predicted to my wife that Morris would be the engineer identified to retrigger the nukes. Wish I could have placed some money on that.

I also predicted tonight that Dad Bauer would end up killing his son — but I didn’t expect it to be because he wanted Junior to keep quiet. Looks like Dad Bauer’s got a beating coming his way this season.

Now I’m wondering if Palmer’s going to figure out that Karen Hughes resigned under pressure, and if he’ll give the axe to the little pipsqueak (I forget his name) who blackmailed Karen.

  1. Great episode. I am pumped that the Air Force pilot from Red Dawn is the Vice President.

  2. Tim says:

I remember him as Curly Bill from Tombstone.

  3. Jeff says:

When Papa Bauer killed the henchman at the beginning that Jack wanted to question, that was a giant billboard screaming: “HE’S BAD! DON’T TRUST HIM!”

  4. I so wish Papa Bauer would have said to his son right before he died, “That’ll do pig, that’ll do.”

  5. And Tim, how could you have possibly guessed that about Morris?

  6. jasonk says:

I wondered if Dad was going to kill himself, after he asked for a few minutes alone. It was surprising that they didn’t save Brother Bauer for Jack to kill.

  7. My predictions:
Morris will become the next Tony Almaeda.
President Palmer will have some guts instead of acting wimpy all the time.

My thoughts on last nights episode was I wish Graem would have shared more information about Mccarthy. Instead, he just gave a red herring to distract Jack in getting that information. So now Jack has to deal with his inner kitten and his feelings for last years CTU agents.

What’s with all the bald actors on 24 this year? How many do we have so far?

  8. Here’s a great article from EW.Com, about last night’s 24 episdode, “Nuclear Family.”

  9. Newman says:

If anyone wants the CTU ringer let me know with your phone number at tsinker@hotmail.com and I’ll text it to you. Its in mp3 format. I just searched for it on google and emailed it to my phone. I know I’m cool you don’t have say anything.

  10. Bill Nettles says:

I just wish that Graem had died in a helicopter crash. That would have completed the Romano (ER) trifecfta (sp?).

And when will new Jack learn that old Jack was right about Daddy?

  11. Hasn’t there been at least one bald guy each season?

Also, Jack isn’t all the way back yet. I suspect he will be completely back by midseason.

  12. Tim says:

    Scott — because I’m good. :)

  13. Here’s another awesome review of 24 from an Arab-American.

    http://www.opinionjournal.com/la/?id=110009633

    Here’s a small summary.

I am an Arab-American as well as a fan of “24.” The two things are not mutually exclusive, despite what the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and other such groups have to say about this season’s opening episodes possibly increasing anti-Muslim and anti-Arab prejudice in American society.

Most of the terrorists represented in “24″ through the years have been Arab Muslims. Why? Well, probably because most terrorists today are, in fact, Arab Muslims. As a descendant of Syrian Muslims, I am very well aware that the majority of Muslims world-wide are peaceful, hard working, and law abiding. That still does not change the fact that the greatest terrorist threat to the U.S. today comes not from the ETA, the IRA, etc., but from one group: Islamic terrorists.

And this is what makes “24″ a compelling drama every week. Instead of pretending Islamic terrorists don’t exist, the show presents frighteningly real worst-case scenarios perpetrated by Osama bin Laden’s followers. So CAIR thinks it’s over the top for the terrorists in “24″ to blow up Los Angeles with a nuke? Please, if bin Laden and his crew had nukes, most of us would be way too dead to argue over such points….

  14. Tim says:

Wow, that’s excellent. Thanks for posting it, Paul.
