Insane.
Hmmm…
Mark, I guess I don’t see why this is so insane.
It seems like Evangelicals get more upset about schools handing out birth control than they do about the 750,000 teen pregnancies per year. I would aregue that the problem is not the schools handing out bc, but parenting, or lack thereof. This seems to be another example of Evangelicals finding something to be upset about.
Thoughts?
Teen-agers are going to have sex. Not all teens, but many. I’d say most, even.
We know this.
Obviously, abstinence is the only sure-fire — or, actually, NO-fire! — way to avoid a teen pregnancy. But, again, we know teens are going to have sex. They need to be educated about the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of sex … preferably at home, by their parents, but just in case, why not make sure they learn all about it at school, too, so they’ll be prepared to make the right decision about having sex.
But, still, many if not most teens are going to try it, anyway. At least once, probably more. At the risk of sounding repetitive: We know this!
I support the practice of schools giving contraceptives to students, along with a healthy dose of sex education. I mean, just because you HAVE contraceptives doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to USE them … but if you do have sex and you DON’T have contraceptives, obviously you’re not going to use them!
Sad. But I agree it is from the lack of parenting.
As I have said before…… Homeschooling.
I think its just a bad precedent to set to have schools making parenting decisions. I agree parents need to step up, but if they aren’t, their principal at their middle school shouldn’t be the one making a decision to give a teenage girl the birth control pill.
Since when do schols have a license to practice medicine?? Dispensing pills of any kind is the practice of medicine. Who in the schools has an M.D. degree or a Pharmaceutical degree to dispense medicines.
How do these schools get the medicines in the first place..?? Who sells or gives them to the schools?? Is this a legal transaction?? Come on parents get some gumption and go after these people who are trying to corrupt your children.
