Woman abandons kids for Springer taping

January 23rd, 2006

A 25-year-old woman in Westmont, Ill., will serve 30 days in jail for leaving her three young kids at home alone while she attended a taping of the Jerry Springer Show.

The children were 3 to nine months old, and the two older children eventually knocked on a neighbor’s door. The neighbor called police.

The woman, Shannon Cook, said she didn’t expect to be gone for nine hours when she left. Police arrested her when she got home.

What do you think the average IQ is of those who watch Jerry Springer? I’m guessing it doesn’t break triple digits.

Thanks to Jeremy for the link.

Sounds like she should have been appearing on the show rather than just watching it.

  2. Jeremy Jones says:

Some people DVR Springer while they are watching NASCAR. :)

Tim, just to clarify, she is single, with three kids, and a boyfriend- leaving her three kids (each probably from different fathers) to go see a LIVE taping of Springer? I hope she never votes. I bettcha we paid for those tickets, yo.

Just goes to show the priorites of the type of people who are the least bit interested in Jerry Springer or his show. From the words of the comedian Ron White, “Things that make you go ‘Bluughh’.”
Jeremy, why all the sudden are you ending every other sentence in ‘yo’? It’s kinda, well, odd. :)
Also, the key part in your comment of “Some people DVR Springer while they are watching NASCAR” is “some people.” I despise the Jerry Springer Show while NASCAR has been growing on me somewhat over the years.

  4. Scott Gladin says:

Hey, wait Tim, are IQ results supposed to get to tripe digits??

  5. Tim says:

Scott — For most people, most definitely. For people who ask that question, I’m not so sure. :)

  6. Scott Gladin says:

Oh shoot, I just realized I didn’t even spell ‘triple’ right when I asked that question. Oh well…..
But on a more serious note, is there really an “official” IQ test? Is the whole IQ idea really legit or is it, well, not legit?

  7. Jim Toms says:

Does it surprise anyone that any person who would be involved in a taping of Springer would do such a thing?

Having a mom like that is how kids grow up to be featured on the Springer show (or in a front and profile shot at the local lock up). They should have taken the kids away from her permanently. BTW, where was the father(s) of these kids?
