Take that, Justice Souter
June 28th, 2005Could a hotel be built on the land owned by Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter?
A New Hampshire developer angered by the Supreme Court’s eminent domain ruling has petitioned the Weare, N.H., city council to allow him to build a hotel on Souter’s land.
What a brilliant move. I hope the city council approves, so maybe Souter will feel first-hand what his lamebrained ruling will mean to some people in this country. Absolutely hilarious.
I suspect the Supreme Court may have to rethink this case if the hotel project on Souter’s land goes forward. But we’re used to that. It’ll just be another case that the Supreme Court has come down on all sides of.
Yeah, I can just hear Souter now: “Guys, I made a mistake. I wanna change my position. Can we vote again? Please? Um, pretty please? If not, then I’m moving in with you, Clarence.”
Thanks for the comment.
I wish developers (those that are not balls of slime) would do this to each sitting SC Judge. Prepare the plan, present it (and it’s tax benefits) to the city councils and have these SC Judge homes condemmened. If these local officials don’t agree, then the SC can “review” it. If they wish to keep their homes then it means their previous ruling was totally worthless.
As such, they shoul all step down.
