2006 baseball predictions — AL East
March 29th, 2006With the Yankees’ payroll, they should win the division. Unfortunately, their pitching could be brutal.
The Red Sox have a strong rotation and a solid lineup, and are probably the best choice to win the division, but I’m not picking them simply out of spite.
My pick: Toronto.
Canadians?
As one of Mr. Ellsworth’s students, I feel the need to obnoxiously point out that he has misspelled ‘Yankees’ in this post.
I hope Mr. Ellsworth can suppress the need to obnoxiously point out some of my truly horrific grades on AP quizzes…
That was not obnoxious, Beth. Tim is human and humans make spelling and grammatical errors- just like senators from Illinois. Even with the misspellings, Tim is a competible blogger.
I am from Illinois, and I am not proud of the fact that Dick Durbin is one of our senators. I am reserving judgment on Barack Obama, for the moment.
Again, Tim, we agree on the division winner. Young and hungry, Toronto added enough depth and experience to leapfrog the Big Two. Halladay leads the charge. Ed McMahon should introduce New York’s lineup Opening Day. Heeeeere’s Johnny!! But then the president of AARP should throw out the first ball. Yankees getting old fast. The afterglow is dimming in Boston. The two year old miracle is already losing its luster, Good thing for them, they are playing in the AL’s worst division.Tampa needs to put Julio Lugo in the leadoff spot and keep him there. The team actually wins more than they lose when Julio bats first. Tejada should fire his agent for talking him into going to Baltimore. Is it too late to make that Prior/Tejada deal?
Hmph. Go ahead, believe what you want, but when this season is done and the Red Sox win the AL East, I’ll revisit this post.
What’s with the Toronto love? The expression, “lipstick on a pig” seems relevant here.
