Bulldogs fall to Gators
October 29th, 2005I hated to see Georgia lose to Florida today — not because I’m a Georgia fan, but because I think the best way for the NCAA to get rid of the BCS silliness is for there to continue to be undefeated teams that don’t get a shot at the national title. I’m pulling for as many teams to finish the season unbeaten as possible.
I’d like to see this season end with USC, Texas, Virginia Tech and Alabama all with perfect records. You wanna talk about the BCS facing some heat when they don’t let Virginia Tech and the Tide play for the national title? Whoa, nellie.
Don’t blame me; Georgia was losing to Florida before I got here. There’s just a collective mental block by the entire state when it comes to playing Florida. Stupid Gators and their chomping.
I hated it because I am a Georgia fan… but while my team lost my wife’s team made up for it. Indeed there is solace in the delicious sight of watching Tennessee get upset by Steve Spurrier’s USC Gamecocks.
I’m hoping that Spurrier and SC can upset the Gators, just so I can watch all these Florida fans moan and groan. By the way, I went to the Florida-Georgia game three years ago, with no interest in the outcome. We were given tickets on the Florida side. Those Gator fans have approximately two yells in their entire repertoire. Some folks say that the Aggies are stupid, but I’ve been to a couple of A&M games and those fans have so many yells that they have to practice at midnight before each game. One thing’s for sure, the Gator fans can do the chomping motion! I”m not sure that they could pull off the YMCA, though!
Well, there was one victory in Georgia last night, at least Tech beat Clemson in a very close game 10-9. Go Jackets!
Georgia had bad luck. The game would have been completly different had Shockley not been hurt. Alas, that’s the way it goes and it’s why there should be a playoff. North Carolina had to play a lot of games without McCants last season, but he healed up and they won the NCAA basketball title. In football Georgia loses their QB for one game and they lose. So our title chances end. It doesn’t make sense.
The entire BCS setup just angers me. I think that a few colleges should just pull out of the NCAA entirely, then set up their own leauge. That would show the NCAA they (and we, the fans) mean buisness. Of course, that would never happen with today’s world of lawsuites. I wish something would change.
