Cards finally end losing streak

June 29th, 2006

They tried to throw the game away last night, but the Cleveland Indians wouldn’t let the St. Louis Cardinals lose and stretch their losing streak to nine games. So, the streak ended at eight straight losses.

Dan at Get Up, Baby has a good little recap of the Cardinals’ performances over the eight-game losing streak.

Finally!!!! I was at this game and against the norm ( for me) we left in the 8th inning. We didn’t leave because the Indians took the lead. I would never give up on the Cards! We left because of the negativity of the so called Cardinals fans around us. It was obvious they had been drinking quite a bit, but when Izzy came in they started booing which prompted me to stand and clap. After every pitch they were yelling very negative comments and booing. It turned from being against Izzy to being against the whole team. I being with my family (wife and two young boys) decided against a confrontation which I really wanted. So we left and listened to the end of the game on the radio.
Don’t get me wrong. I will make comments about how terribly they are playing or at this time they’re awful. I will never boo my team or yell obscenities at them! To me these are not true Cardinals fans.
After that long rant I think I do need to commend the rest of the Cardinals nation. After losing 8 games in a row and playing on a wednesday they still had 44,000 people there.

    Go Cards!!!!!
