Good deal. One-disgruntled-hard-to-get-along-with third baseman with above average defensive skills and a decent bat for one-disgruntled-hard-to-get-along-with third baseman with above average power and decent defensive skills.
That is, when healthy.
Haha, Troy Glaus, Scott Rolen, and pass physicals are all mentioned in the same sentence….
It helped me to make sense of this by reading Matthew Leech’s most recent mailbag.

The one upside to the deal for the Cards is that Rolen has one more year of salary (2010) and Glaus’ deal will end in 2009. Besides that, it seems like the Cards may have a bat with more pop, but less with the glove. Glaus might provide some valuable protection to Pujols. If people disgruntled with LaRussa have to be traded, I guess I will have to go. I think Tony would have looked good in (Cincinati) red.
