Funny baseball stories
June 27th, 2006For my column this week, I didn’t write about this church in Dallas, as I said I would. I intended to, but the column didn’t come together like I had hoped. I’m still planning to address this matter in my column for next week.
So for this week, I put together a small collection of funny baseball stories, which you may have already read since I’ve posted them on this blog previously.
Two of my favorites. Not surprisingly, they’re about the Cubs, but in a horrible twist of fate, they both involve legendary catcher Hector Villanueva:
Villanueva had a good day at the plate:
Hector - “When I’m hitting, they call me strong. When I’m not hitting, they call me fat.”
Manager Don Zimmer - “They always call me fat.”
Hector had hit his first triple:
Manager Jim Essian - “I always thought Hector would hit a triple one day. I just never thought it’d be inside the park.”
The Dean one made me laugh
