I don’t like Weaver in this start. What does Reyes have to do to get another WS start? I just don’t get it. I hope TLR has a quick hook for Weaver giving way to an unbelievably effective post-season bullpen. We’ll see.
I don’t have a problem with this decision. Weaver has been very effective this postseason. Yes, Reyes had a great start in game 1, but he’s also a rookie — and rookie pitchers are typically inconsistent. I say go with the veteran.
I don’t get it. I’d start the kid. LaRussa is doing a Dusty Baker. Isn’t it more pressure on Reyes should he have to start game 6? Or come in relief in a tight spot?
Weaver gave up 9 hits and a walk in 5 innings and lost to Detroit. Weaver is the model of inconsistency. I’d go with the kid. The delicate genius LaRussa is at it again.
Ha! Figures that the Cards are pinning their hopes in the 9th to former Brave farmhand Adam Wainright. Boy that trade looks dumber as time goes by (bet you’re not really missing JD Drew)
Yes! David Eckstein as MVP! 5′7″ 165 lbs. dripping wet. Looks like the bat boy. Not a show off..Plays his heart out…tough, gritty, dependable. The heart and soul of this club. He earned it and deserved it! WOOO—HOOO!!!
Jim Leyland is a class act…a true leader: credits his players for the success…takes the blame for the loss. What a fantastic job he’s done in Detroit. Hat’s off to Leyland and the Tigers for the year they’ve had.
Cards win 6 - 3 and I’m up all night because I’m too excited to sleep. Go CARDS!!!!!!!

BTW, the sky is clearing in St. Louis!

Last night marked the 21st anniversary of Denkinger.

Well, stink. As awful as Verlander was in the first inning, the Cards can’t score any runs. Not a good way to start for St. Louis.
Man, Detroit’s defense is killing them.
Here’s a joke for you:
How many Tigers does it take to clean a pair of shoes?
OK…so its not a joke, just an honest question.
How many times will Detroit’s pitchers throw the ball away? It’s incredible. Five throwing errors by the pitching staff this series.
Ok, when tthis commercial ends I want to sent Preston Wilson standing in right field.
correction…I want to see…
that’s better…bout time
Tip of the hat to Pujols and Weaver for that little gem. Wow.
Denkinger would have called Polanco safe.
It would be very nice to see the Cards put at least one more run on the board.
OK, Rolen can come back next year.
That was a great play by Albert and Jeff.
6 outs…6 outs…6 outs….
3 outs… how ’bout this Weaver huh?
So the World Series is still giong on eh?
I’ll have to turn it on. Didn’t realize your guys could win it tonight.

Now that’s how pitchers do it Detroit.
Congratulations, Cards & fans.
Congrats.
David Eckstein…MVP?
This was definitely a TEAM championship!!!
Good win. Glad for the Cards and for you guys. I thought it was pretty cool that Joe Buck got to call it.

Of all people, I never figured Weaver would turn out to be the hero of the game. Unreal.
