My prediction has changed now. I originally said the Cards would win game 1, lose game 2, win games 3 & 4, lose game 5 and win it in game 6 at Detroit. I now believe they will win it tonight in game 5. I believe the Tigers are going to be pressing to much and the Cards smell blood and would love to not go back to Detroit.
Mine have too. Since I only won 3 games last week the vast majority of my football picks have changed, but I’m talking about games that haven’t been played yet.
I love the NBA. I’m totally excited about the season, especially the Bulls’ chances to go deeper in the playoffs this year. I love all sorts of basketball!
Great game last night! Unfortunately, my family had tragic news this morning that has pretty much overshadowed the game. I’ll post about that on my blog. Thanks for leaving your comment there.
Go Cards! I am fondly remembering the victory in 1982. I was downtown (but couldn’t get tickets to the game) and was on the field at Busch Stadium with thousands of other crazed fans about an hour after the game. Let’s hope for another celebration tonight (or tomorrow if the rains don’t quit).
They are getting to the point where they are being aggressive at the right moments. They have been through enough this year to be able to keep their heads and pull it together.
Polanco will be 3 of 4 and Monroe will make some noise.
Verlander, although lacking the experience, has more poise than Bonderman to keep his head in the game.
Then Rogers back home for the title.

That’s right Tim - the Cardinals could do an absolutley horrid thing tonight - end the baseball season. I’m still hoping it’s Detroit that does it in game 7, but still.
Actually, I can’t wait to get the 2006 MLB season behind us. It hasn’t exactly been my team’s year…
I’m getting more and more turned off college football every year. I hate to say it because it is one of the greatest sports spectacles in the world. It’s a shame that every season ends with an argument about who is number 1. Until they scrap the BCS and get a real playoff system, it’s just going to get more and more frustrating. I’m praying for the year that we have 4 or 5 teams that go undefeated. Eventually there will be a playoff system, it’s just a matter of time.
In the mean time I’ve started getting into watching English Premier League soccer. It’s awesome. I’m probably the only soccer fan on this blog though.

Parable Of The Foolish Fountain Folk
Bret McAtee @ 9:19 am
Though it had the natural sentiments in it that all mountain fresh water contained the mountain fresh water was perfectly safe, and yet despite its natural purity the community folk refused to buy it. They drank instead the water they had drunk for years that they bought from one of two long established fountains. Water, from the first fountain had been laced with cyanide for decades. Water from the second fountain had been laced with strychnine for even longer. Both of these popular fountains were killing the folk, but as ingrained habit is a relentless force they just kept supporting the foul fountains.
All pleading with people to drink the water that was healthy for them fell on deaf ears — even on the ears of people who were by all accounts concerned about their health and the health of their children and neighbors.
The community folk reasoned that since the mountain fresh water would never become the most popular water they needed to quaff from the other fountains. They insisted that only by supporting the foul fountains could they influence the amount of cyanide or strychnine that was mixed into the water of the foul fountains.
“Why, if we elected to drink the mountain fresh water who knows how high the level the poison could go in the other fountains,” they said. “Besides” they offered, “if we give up electing to drink from the lesser foul fountain everybody will end up having to drink from the greater foul fountain.”
When it was suggested that they would be better off to drink the mountain fresh water and just break the poisonous fountains altogether if that was necessary they blanched at what they considered a radical idea.
“Better to have some water source, even if poisonous, then fight for pure water,” they said with one voice.
And so time went on and eventually even those who styled themselves health nuts developed a taste for the poisonous fountains, insisting that they weren’t really that bad. Indeed, so ferocious was their loyalty to the poisonous fountains that they heaped opprobrium upon anybody who dared to suggest that the the folk were killing themselves and their community.
Let those who have ears to hear, hear the parable of the foolish fountain folk.
One of the funniest things I have read in a long time — pardon me if anyone deams it inappropriate—
From Bill Simmons 15 things to watch for in the NBA
14. Reggie Evans
But seriously … can you put a price on seeing the Nuggets this season and sitting in a section with 30-40 fans screaming “Nut grabber!!!!” every time Evans comes into the game? I feel like this should be part of his name now, like the announcer should say, “Now entering the game for Denver, the Nut Grabber, Reggie Evans!” The lesson, as always: Don’t grab somebody else’s nuts during an NBA game.
For the past 5 days I have averaged at least 5 calls per day from telemarketers trying to sell me pens with my companies name on them to offering me a 350lbs woman sipping a mixed drink in Vegas if I bought custom items from them. I have been on the do not call list for some time now and just in the past couple weeks I have been getting these calls. I don’t know why the influx now, especially since I am on the do not call list. I was able to get one company name out of all the calls made to me and I reported them but after reporting the information given states that thye do not handle individual cases but if the database reaches an unspecified limit, they may be able to take legal action against said company.
Most of the people hung up on me when I attempted to get a company name and/or their name and contact information.
This is rather rediculous and I cannot forsee anyone buying anything from a company that won’t even share their name with you.
Now here is something unbelievable: The same company just called again. Selling the same crap (within 1 hour of eachother). This time a different guy. The guy wanted to take me Cliff Jumping…. and sell me ball point pens with my companies name on them.
The companies name is Nationwide Designs out of San Diego, CA. In case anyone wants to call them and sell them your services their number is 888.565.7469 . I called after the first call (after googling the name I had) about an hour ago to tell them not to call me and I was on the do not call list. The lady I spoke to said that there is no such thing as a do not call list; I pointed her to the website. I inquired as to why I got two calls from them within an hour and even called inbetween the calls asking to not be called again. She said that she had my information on her desk and it would take a week to be purged from her system.
Who ever thought up this system? I do not think well of them.
If any of you fellow Illinoisans don’t like your choices for governor then check out this guy. I believe I finally found someone I feel good about voting for.
I can’t believe I’m the first! That’s the upside of insomnia.
Who thinks tonight would be a good time for Tim to take his wife to see the Phantom of the Opera?
Cardinals 5
Tigers 4
Cardinals up 3-1
Life is beautiful.
Me!
BTW, I still think the WS will go to 7 games. I hope I’m wrong.
Chuck, my prediction for most of last Sunday’s games has changed now as well.
Mine have too. Since I only won 3 games last week the vast majority of my football picks have changed, but I’m talking about games that haven’t been played yet.
As if stranger things could happen to the Cowboys—hey T.O. if it smells like a rat—-

NBA??? Is that real sport?
Poolejols,
Call coach and tell him NOT to sue! That’s just McD’s new product, “Dead Rat Salad.” Its on the dollar menu!
Who here predicted Detroit would sweep? Just trying to remember. I’m pulling for a win for St.Louis tonight, in front of the home crowd.
NBA? No way!
NCAA Roundball? All day long!!!
I love the NBA. I’m totally excited about the season, especially the Bulls’ chances to go deeper in the playoffs this year. I love all sorts of basketball!
No time for the NBA when there’s college football going on…
Amen, Laz.

Tigers rock Jeff Weaver.
Head home to win in 6.

OK, how’s this?
Hey Mike –
Detroit’s down 3-1. They can’t win in 6.
Leave Mike alone. He’s in a state of denial. Professional therapists can help him with that. He will be fine. Just give him time.
That’s right Tim - the Cardinals could do an absolutley horrid thing tonight - end the baseball season. I’m still hoping it’s Detroit that does it in game 7, but still.

Tim- that was funny!
A cowboy rode into town on Friday. He stayed three days and left on Friday. How did he do it?
I apologize to those of you who have heard it. I know it’s and oldie, but I love it.
Chuck–
The horse’s name was Friday.
Tim’s the winner! Have you heard it before?

Joel — Alex is right there with you.
Go Aresenal!
Joel - I like soccer. I can’t say that I’m a big fan because I don’t watch it enough, but i like it.
