Lidge shipped to Philly

November 8th, 2007

The Phillies and Astros completed a five-player trade, with Brad Lidge and Eric Bruntlett going to Philadelphia. The Astros receive Michael Bourn, Geoff Geary and minor leaguer Mike Costanzo.

At least Lidge now won’t have to face Albert Pujols as often.

I’m not sure what to think about this deal. Prior to reading about it in today’s Chronicle, I had never heard of the 3 guys the ‘Stros got in return.

Lidge might still be serviceable as a setup man, but then again a set up man cannot get a quality closer’s salary.

Hopefully Brad gets back on his feet in Philly, and yes I thank Brother Albert for Jedi Mind Tricking Lidge. Brad hasn’t been the same since.
