Mets sweep Cards

April 4th, 2007

I know it’s a long season, but dang it stinks to get swept in the first series of the year. Could somebody for the Cardinals please get a hit?

Also, why is Preston Wilson on this team? Anybody?

  1. Note to self…It’s ok to say “dang it” on Tim’s blog. Hmmm.

My guess about Preston Wilson is that he’s there to drive us Redbird fans crazy. Just a guess thoug. Maybe La Russa has some magic still up his sleeve and nows something we don’t about Wilson.

  3. No, my team didn’t get swept, but I feel pretty bad about it too. The only thing better than beating the Phillies in the first two games would have been beating the Phillies while the Cardinals were beating up on the Mets. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to do it this weekend.

  4. Entering play on Thursday, there remains 8 unbeaten teams in MLB. These teams are: New York Yankees (1-0), Minnesota Twins (3-0), Cleveland Indians (2-0), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (3-0), New York Mets (3-0), Atlanta Braves (2-0), Pittsburgh Pirates (3-0), San Diego Padres (2-0).
Who do you think will be the last unbeaten team standing in the Majors? The NL/AL?

  5. Preston Wilson is on this team because of his awesome do-rag.

He’s the Sanjaya of the MLB!

  6. James says:

This is hurting. Think it might be a loooonnnnng year. Still, it’s nice to have the trophy in the case.

I think Tony is right…. Wilson has the doo-rag. Nothing else explains it.

  7. Phil H says:

Preston Wilson was the Astros $4 mln mistake last season. Was extremely glad to see him go. We had enough guys already who struck out or grounded into DPs in crucial situations.

At least you guys didnt get swept by the Bucs.

It amazes me how Preston Wilson has last this long in the majors. He is a prime example of wasted talent for the sake of hitting HRs. The difference is other guys that K a lot - here’s looking at you Adam Dunn and Pat Burrell - also hit 30+ HRs and drive in close to 100 RBIs regularly.

  9. The Zoner says:

Ted Lilly was outstanding in his Cubs debut last night.
I think it’s ok to say dang it but when I do I do it in my Hank Hill impression, which some tell me is spot-on.

  10. Ray Lankford says:

I have no idea why people are raggin’ on Preston! There is no shame in having a batting average equal to your season’s strikeout total! A strikeout is nothing more than a really short home run… and no base running… and no runs scored. Ummm, nevermind. The bottom-line: Stranger signings of has-been power-hitters that strikeout a ton have happened in St. Louis.

  11. Eric Russell (cousin of Steve) says:

I just enjoy seeing the Cards being 1.5 games BEHIND the Cubs. I’m sure it’ll be short-lived, however.

  12. Steven says:

But Tim…they didnt lose yesterday (Thursday)!

And the Red Sox won behind 10 Ks from Dice-K.

    And the Yankees lost.

    Silver Linings!!
