I’ll take this post as an opportunity to ask a question. I know that it’s not ultimately important, but what do you think about Lowell being named MVP of the series?

I think it should have gone to someone who made a distinct contribution to winning the whole series, not just game 4. I would have like to have seen either Papalbon or Ellsberry get it. Papalbon for saving games 3 and 4 after there was GREAT danger of losing them. Ellsberry because he seemed to be a catalyst for a LOT of offense and defense. I think a lot of the Boston players stepped things up a notch just to keep up with the kid.

I’ll take your word for it, Bill. Honestly, I didn’t watch enough of the World Series to have an informed opinion about the matter.

Bill as a Red Sox fan I had no problem with Lowell being named the MVP. I think that it was his big hits in games 2 and 4 and his great defense. That and some great base running pushed him ouver the top. I do agree with you that either Ellsberry or Paps could have easily won the award.
