Outfielder benefits from dad’s discernment

My second story from my spring training trip is about Houston Astros outfielder Luke Scott.

Also, for those of you who are gun fanatics (I’m looking at you, Newman and misawa), you might be interested in this story about athletes and guns, in which Scott is featured prominently.

“An athlete gets paid a lot of money,” he said. “And someone who is after that, a thief, a mugger or someone who steals from people, they are taking a chance with the law that if they get caught, they are going to jail or face some other problem.”

With a broad smile, he added, “In my case, you are going to get shot.”

    Me? ;)

    (Great story, BTW)

  2. Hehe, I like this guy.
As I always say, “If you ever try and take my guns away, I’ll shoot you.”

Another great story Tim. I am glad that he has a love for God’s Word; that is how the Spirit works!

Also I saw the gun story when it ran on TV. The reporter who did the story was so “gun ignorant” that it was pretty funny. Just read the opening lines of the written story and you will see what I mean. The guy just emptied a clip and the writer makes it sound like he went through a WWII gun fight.

Thanks for story Tim. As an Astros fan it was really great to see Scott come on towards the end of last season. He’s an easy guy to root for. Not sure if you had a chance to talk to Berkman this spring, but he’s another believer as well who likes to talk openly about his faith.
