Outraged over loss, Mets fan kills mother

July 31st, 2007

From Reuters:

A New York man has been charged with beating his mother to death with a barbell after losing his temper while watching a baseball game on television.

Talk about taking a game too seriously. What a headcase.

I always new baseball was bad. Just think, if it brought this young man to kill, then we should rid the world of such a thing as this. It should be added to death squad: alcohol, tabacco and firearms. We should form panels and compile studies to support a class action against anyone who has anything to do with getting baseball to the tv screen. :P

On a serious note though, I wonder how many deaths a year can be contributed to baseball (directly or indirectly)?

Guess it’s a good thing he’s not a Devil Rays fan, or we’d be looking at a serial killer.

You sure he’s a Mets fan? This story sounds like it’s straight out of Green Bay, WI.

The link to the story does not work for me. Anyone else?

It worked for me Cineaste. I was able to read the whole thing. Maybe the server was down, maybe your browser has issues with the site. Just some suggestions.

  6. This makes me feel good, considering I work for the single-A team in the Mets organization, who is in last place right now…
