Rangers set AL record with 30 runs

August 22nd, 2007

Check out this box score: Texas Rangers 30, Baltimore Orioles 3. The Rangers set an American League record and became the first major league team in 110 years to score 30 runs in a game.

And how crazy is this? Texas pitcher Wes Littleton actually got credit for a save.

    Un-be-liev-able.

What’s really astounding to me is that the Rangers scored all 30 of those runs in only 4 of 9 innings.

Look’s like a football score, eh? Putting up 30 points in the NFL is pretty impressive.

This is remarkable. I’d say it’s roughly equivalent to scoring 180 points in an NBA game, 12 goals in an NHL game, and 70 points in an NFL game.

Another interesting tid-bit - Baltimore actually led 3-0 at one point. Also, this was game one of a doubleheader!

And 8 LOB for the Rangers!

Saltamacchia is a great fantasy pick.

I guess after striking out 17 times against Santana on Sunday, any other pitcher looks easy to hit.

My favorite stat: the game took only 3:21 to complete. How is that even possible?

And they did it all without Mark Teixeira…

  7. Of course I had Salty on my bench yesterday… Ugh.
