Rednecks, NASCAR — and hepatitis?
October 11th, 2007NASCAR fans might seem rabid, but are they actually contagious?
Getting a hepatitis shot is standard procedure for travelers to parts of Africa and Asia, but some congressional aides were instructed to get immunized before going to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord and the racetrack in Talladega, Ala.
So … many … jokes …
I figured Jones would be out front on this one.
Busy days at work lately on my end (for real Tim). I think the story speaks for itself, and I love the message.
I am not a NASCAR fan, but I do pay occasional attention to which drivers are bickering with one another. Also, I’ve always sorta liked Dale Jr., and I used to have an inexplicable attraction to Kyle Petty (in fact, I still might).
Aside from all that, I’m not sure I “get” the jokes surrounding NASCAR.
Maybe I’m just too much of a hick to understand?
Can’t say I blame them.
I’m sorry but this is just a tell tell sign of what congress really thinks of the middle and lower class. Its a slap in the face and makes me mad. It has nothing to do with Nascar and everything to do with the elitests who run this country.
I concur with Neuwmand. Bureacrats need to realize those “white trash” tailgaters will be the same middle class folk who determine whether they win another term in office. And does anybody realize the price of NASCAR tickets these days? Not exactly an affordable luxury for the lower class Americans.
By the way, let me cast my vote for the #1 team in the nation… Hendrick Motorsports!
As I read the article, the thought comes to mind that perhaps the concern was to protect the NASCAR fans from the government officials.
My name is all screwed up.
