Reynolds to sue ESPN over firing
October 30th, 2006
Former ESPN baseball analyst Harold Reynolds will sue the network over his firing during the summer.
“I have tried everything possible to handle this situation quietly behind closed doors. After numerous conversations and multiple mediation discussions with ESPN executives, it is clear that ESPN had no intention of solving this problem amicably,” Reynolds said in a statement.

This story prompts conflicted emotions. I’ve always enjoyed HR. Other than Gammons, there’s nobody I’ve liked better on Baseball Tonight. After HR was fired and Gammons had his stroke, I thought the show was unwatchable.
Hearing some accounts of HR’s testimony & character in the past, I couldn’t hardly believe the story behind his dismissal. However, I know that even though we are forgiven through Christ, we are still sinners, and that one mistake - or even several - do not nullify God’s grace.
That being said, I don’t know what to say about the lawsuit. In general, I hate lawsuits. But I want to give HR the benefit of the doubt, especially in light of his statement. It will be interesting to see how this continues to play out.
It’s interesting how he is appraching this. I think he is wanting to simply clear his name at this point.
HR, I’m really saddened by the news of what you are going through. Keep your head up. As an African-AMerican male, I lost my positon last July because of not passing a State Test. Now that I’ve passed the test, I can’t get an interview with my former employer. Now I’m wondering if there are some behind the scenes backstabbing going on.
