Weaver to sign with Mariners

January 26th, 2007

Jeff Weaver will sign a one-year, $8.3 million contract with the Seattle Mariners. The Cardinals are believed to have offered Weaver a two-year deal worth about $12 million.

Sayonara, Jeff. Have fun stinking in Seattle.

and we Seattle fans are ooohhhh sooooo thrilled………

  2. Dave Duncan clearly was the difference-maker for Weaver.

No Dave Duncan in Seattle. The Mariners are going to get the old Weaver. And not at bargain prices, unfortunately.

I’m absolutely glad the Dodgers got rid of this guy.

My wife says he looks like Kurt Cobain. She often called him “Kurt Weaver.”

So I guess Nirvana will be having a reunion in Seattle!

I have been present to boo Weaver as a Yankee, as a Dodger and as a Cardinal. I look forward to connecting with him again in some AL park this year to go for the four-peat. (Better make it early in the year ’cause I think he’ll be the highest paid pitcher in AAA by July.)
