Thanks, Bode Miller, for the medals (or lack thereof).
Thanks, Emily Hughes, for being the bright spot.
Thanks, Gordon Cloud, for offending the entire Miller family and all of Bode’s partying buddies. If you have a problem with Bode’s Olympic performance, you should go to him in private. Just like I am doing right now with you.
Please nobody read the preceding paragraph except for Gordon Cloud.
Thanks, Pete Fenson, for inspiring me to take up curling.
Thanks, Cassie Johnson, for inspiring me to watch curling.
Thanks, Volkswagen, for helping me make friends with my fast. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4121830683814062245&q=vw+fast)
?????
Oh, sorry Bob, my favorite moment was when the Flying Tomato took gold on the half-pipe. He knows his game.
OK Jeremy.
I think for me, it was Emily Hughes’ short program.
The smile on her face said it all.
I also loved the VW fast commercials. Here is an example: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4121830683814062245&q=vw+fast
I got to agree with Jeremy (Jermy?) about Shaun White. He’s clearly the star of the American Olympic team.
The thing I don’t understand is this whole obsession with the medal count. Who cares! Sure I want to see the Americans do well, but in the end I want to see great athletes perform. I really don’t care about the chest thumping as to who won the most medals. To me, it trivializes all of the events and athletes. These are athletes competing, not countries.
My favorite part of watching the Olympics was flipping over to the NFL channel in between commercials on NBC to watch the combine. Man, I love that stuff.
Jeremy, thank you for your Christian rebuke. Next time I see Bode I will talk with him privately about the pitfalls of “doing it my way.”
Bless you.
For me the bright spot was last night, when the torch went out, and I knew that I won’t have to watch any more figure skating for four more years.
“For me the bright spot was last night, when the torch went out…”
So, the dark spot was when they lit the torch?
Speaking of the torch. Did any of you watch the closing ceremonies. The five minutes I saw looked like a glorified - no, not even glorified, high school football half-time show. They were singing YMCA and doing the hand motions. Some were dressed up like clowns. I thought, “Well, maybe it’s an Italian thing.” Then I changed the channel.
You’re not the only one, Mark. I read somewhere that the ratings were terrible. I watched very little of it myself.
The Olympics are over??????
